Non-Invasive, Medication free therapy for Improved Brain Function

Neurofeedback is Transformation

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, effective treatment for ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and many other disorders without the use of strong psychoactive medications and the side effects that accompany them. With Neurofeedback, the brain learns to reorganise itself instead of relying on chemicals to mask the symptoms of the deregulated brain. Unlike medications that blanket the entire brain chemically, Neurofeedback specifically targets the areas of the brain that needs “tuning up”.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback or EEG (electroencephalogram) Biofeedback is a learning process which optimises brain function. Neurofeedback has been around for decades but recent advancements have improved its availability and effectiveness. Neurofeedback is based on hospital technology that monitors brain-waves using sensors placed on the scalp and earlobes. The EEG signal is then filtered into signals that correspond, for example, to states of relaxation, alertness, or stress. This information is analysed by a computer and monitored by the therapist while visual and auditory feedback is given to the person via a second computer. The procedure allows direct access to the central nervous system and allows people to learn to modify their brain to function more effectively without medications.

What is Neurofeedback good for?

The following disorders have clinical reports of effectiveness using Neurofeedback:

· ADD/ADHD

· Anxiety and Phobias

· Addictions

· Aspergers Syndrome

· Attachment Disorder

· Autism

· Borderline Personality Disorder

· Bipolar Mood Disorders

· Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

· Chronic Pain

· Cognitive Decline in the Elderly

· Depression

· Fibromyalgia

· Learning Disabilities

· Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

· Peak Performance of memory, concentration and focus (athletes, performers, business people)

· Personal Growth and Spiritual Development

· Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

· Parkinson's Disease

· (Mild) Traumatic Brain Injury

How can Neurofeedback treat so many disorders?

Because behaviour and functioning is a product of the brain and the central nervous system, optimising the brain will assist in recovery from all forms of Central Nervous System dysfunction. When the source of the neurological inefficiency is identified and corrected through Neurofeedback the symptoms, whether it be compromised attention, mood, or behaviour, is significantly reduced, or eliminated all together.

How long does treatment take?

Sessions are 60 minutes with 30-40 minutes for the Neurofeedback and 15-20 minutes for set-up and processing. Sessions are typically scheduled one to three times per week. Since the brain is learning something new, people tend to get stronger results more quickly when they attend more than once per week. Neurofeedback is a gradual learning process. The average length of treatment is 20-30 sessions with 40 sessions for more chronic symptoms. Most individuals will begin to notice changes after just a few sessions, with target symptoms usually improving within 10 sessions.

Are there any risks?

Neurofeedback is entirely safe and there are no undesirable side effects. There is no electrical current or magnetic field put into the body or brain. Neurofeedback gives to a client only information, through the senses via the music and video. This form of training does not push one into alternate mental states or functions. The process is very gentle, and nothing is forced.

Are the results permanent?

The results of the training are permanent. Once the brain's normal patterns have been restored, the Neurofeedback training is no longer necessary. The effects of Neurofeedback training is similar to the effect of training wheels on a bicycle. Once you learn to balance by yourself, the training wheels are no longer needed. The body does not forget.

"Neurofeedback should play a major therapeutic role in many difficult areas. In my opinion, if any medication had demonstrated such a wide spectrum of efficacy it would be universally accepted and widely used. It is a field to be taken seriously by all”
